Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, Jermine Wade, is excited about Festival 2011 in Montserrat after Delta Petroleum came on board as a Platinum Sponsor. Montserrat festival is being celebrated during the Christmas season, December 17, 2011 to January 02, 2012 under the theme "Fete, Party Day and Night, Montserrat's festival 49th." This year’s celebration is expected to have large Cultural Displays on the road, and Delta will form part of it.
Minister Wade said Delta is living up to their corporate responsibility and he is happy to see the lead role they are playing in this year’s Festival. He further stated that as Montserrat gears up to celebrate the 50th anniversary, he hopes that Delta will be involved in the grand Festivities.
Wade, a youth enthusiast met Mr. Sylvester, the Regional General Manager of Delta Petroleum in Nevis at a Drag Racing meet, where Montserrat won most of the Races. The Minister stated that Mr. Sylvester shared his views as they relate to the Youth and Sports; with Delta's corporate agenda that includes the youth and sports and partnering with the governments in Tortola, St.Kitts, Nevis and Anguilla.
Mr. Sylvester said Delta will continue to contribute to the preservation of culture, as culture is important especially in Montserrat, where the volcano eruption caused so many persons to leave the island. He stated that Delta remained in the Montserrat market when the people needed them and being a platinum sponsor in the Festival is indicative of Delta’s unwavering support. Mr. Sylvester also congratulated the Minister on the good job he has been doing with culture.
Delta Petroleum is the only petroleum company operating in Montserrat and they have been contributing to Festival over the years, but this is the first year they are being a platinum sponsor. There will be a number of guest performers among them is Mighty Baron out of Trinidad.
