The former first couple of the United States, Barack Obama and Michelle Obama, has promised to return to the BVI for another vacation stay, this time, bringing along their two daughters.
The Obamas ended their ten-day private stay in the BVI on Virgin Gorda, where they were guests of billionaire Sir Richard Branson. They departed the TB Lettsome International Airport yesterday afternoon, February 2.
The Obamas said they enjoyed their visit tremendously and hope to return with their daughters in the near future.
At the airport, His Excellency the Governor, John Duncan, OBE; wife of the Governor, Mrs. Anne-Marie Duncan; Premier of the Virgin Islands, Dr. the Honourable D. Orlando Smith, OBE; and BVI First Lady Mrs. Lorna, bid farewell to the Obamas.
“I have followed President Obama’s two terms in the White House and I am filled with admiration for his accomplishment," Premier Smith said.
He added, "The fact that the Obamas chose the BVI for their private vacation after eight years in the White House speaks to the high regard in which the BVI and its tourism product are held.”
