Licensed Clinical Psychologist Dr. Michael A. Turnbull who is the Founder of the Wellness Centre Behavioural Health Clinic, and the Hope Foundation (BVI) LTD will deliver the keynote address at the 24th annual H. Lavity Stoutt Community College graduation ceremony.
A total of 188 students will be graduating on Thursday, June 8th at the ceremony that will be held on the lawn of the Paraquita Bay campus. This year 170 students will receive Associate Degrees, while 18 will be awarded certificates.
In 2016 190 students graduated during the 23rd HLSCC exit ceremony. From the graduating class three students (Akeen Merry, Alandell Williams, and Autumn Inniss-Harris) received Summa Cum Laude felicitations. 11 graduates achieved magna cum laude designations with 31 graduates at cum laude designation. 35 members from the Beta Omicron Sigma chapter of the Phi Theta Kappa honor society graduated as well.
Last year graduates received Certificates of Achievements, Associates in Art Degrees in the fields of Primary Education and General Studies, together with Associates in Science Degrees in the fields of Business Administration (Finance, Accounting, Small Business Administration, Hotel Management, Computer Information Systems, Graphic Information Systems), Sciences (Chemistry, Biology, Natural Science), Automotive Engineering Technology, Construction Technology,Electronic Engineering Technology, Engineering/Architectural Drawing, Land Surveying, Marine Technology, Human Services, and Culinary Arts.
In 2015 when the College held its 22nd graduation exercises 167 students graduated from HLSCC and 10 from the Charter Management Institute. 127 of the graduates were females [77%] and 40 males [23%]. 14 of the graduating students were from Virgin Gorda. That graduating class comprised 34 honour students - eight males and 26 females. Three Virgin Gorda students graduated with honours. Keyonna Farrington was the only student with a perfect 4.0 GPA.
