Baron to Fill HLSCC Auditorium With Sweet Soca Music

Baron—whose unique voice earned him the nickname "The Sweet Soca Man" will be performing at the H. Lavity Stoutt Community College’s Eileen Parsons Auditorium on Saturday 21 November.

Baron who hails from Trinidad is best known for his unique vocals and a string of hits such as “We are Having a Party”, “Feeling It” and “Soca Man”.   He began his calypso career in 1971, after being introduced to the management of the Original Young Brigade calypso tent by his long-time friend, Lord Shorty. Who also penned Baron’s first hit, “Severe Licking”. Accompanying Baron on stage will be the BVI’s own Blue Essence Band.

The Calypson/Soca show is part of the annual Performing Arts Series. The 21st Performing Arts Series is sponsored by First Bank VI, Arias Fabrega & Fabrega Trust, Aleman, Cordero, Galindo & Lee Trust and other corporate contributors.

In keeping with past seasons the Series will continue its Student Outreach workshops,

providing students with preview performances. Both Public and Private schools are invited to register their group or class to attend any of our scheduled programs.

The series will also continue to feature service provided by students as part of the Department of Education Community Service Program. In addition, opportunities for Stage bill booklet advertising, event sponsorship and season sponsorship are available for local businesses.
