BVI COPS GOLD at Chef Competition

Armed with a gold medal and the titles of Overall Junior Chef, Junior Chef of the Year, Most Creative Dish and Best Dish, a team representing the BVI at a chef competition created history for the people and residents of the BVI.

The competition which was held over a six day period from June 21 to 27 attracted a number of teams from several countries. Among the countries that competed were the Bahamas, Trinidad and Tobago and Barbados.

In an exclusive interview, coach of the team Kaswel Pond told BVI HotPress that he like the other team members are very elated over what he dubbed as the country’s historic achievements at the competition.

“It was really much excited as you know that we created history so I am very proud of what the team has been able to do,” he said.

He told BVI HotPress that like the other team members,he too was very elated over what he dubbed as the country’s historic achievements at the competition. “It was really much excited as you know that we created history so I am very proud of what the team has been able to do,” he said.

He pointed out that it was the first time that they had a junior chef noting that the junior chef was able to capture a number of awards namely the Junior Chef of the Year, Best Dish, Most Creative dish and Overall Junior Chef.

“This was a really fantastic moment for all of us here in the BVI, as despite us being from a small country, we held our own with chefs from some of the other big countries,” he said.

He said that the public would soon have an opportunity to sample some of the menus that his team used as part of their competition, declaring that they had worked very hard and is satisfied to see their hard work being compensated through the capturing of a gold medal. He noted that the experience was life changing adding that they learnt a lot over the past six days while further enhancing their skills.

“It was a life changing experience for us and we are truly grateful and thankful for the experience as we were able to demonstrate to the rest of the region our ability and skills in holding our own in this industry, " the proud looking coach declared.
