Bands To Get Culture Minister Attention

Hon. Myron V. Walwyn has stated that he continues to make great strides for VI entertainers where after years of discussion with the USVI Government, negotiations have been put in place to allow local acts a waiver to perform in USVI governmental and carnival activities without having to apply for the pricy expensive P1 Visa.

The Minister said that to this end, he is holding a meeting for all local entertainers on Thursday 23 March 2017 to discuss this information. All entertainers are asked to make a special effort should be made for all entertainers to be present at the Department of Youth Affairs and Sports conference room at 5PM.

The agreement was confirmed following a meeting on February 8, 2017, between Homeland Security, Lt. Governor Potter and members of the USVI Carnival committees.

On Friday 10 March 2017, the Minister Walwyn met with Lt. Governor Potter to discuss the details of the waiver. 

Also present were Mr. Bobby Thomas, Vice Chairman of the St. Thomas Carnival Committee and Mr. Trefor Grant, Chairman of the Virgin Islands Festival and Fairs Committee. Very important details for the continued success of this waiver were highlighted.
