Gov't Looking At Various Options For Airport Funding 

Premier and Minister of Finance Hon. Dr. Orlando Smith asked, whether his government is considering seeking any financing for the Terrence B. Lettsome International Airport Runway Extension Project from the Chinese. 

However, in response the Premier said, government considering financing options from a wide spectrum of credible financial institutions around the world, including institutions in this region, the United States and Canada as well as in the People’s Republic of China.

Hon. Julian Fraser, Third District Representative also asked the Premier in the House of Assembly, given that the Contractor selected for the project, “China Communications Construction Company Ltd.” is a company owned by the Chinese Government, could the Premier state what kind of permission he received from the FCO to negotiate and do business with the Chinese Government? 

"No contractor has been selected for the Terrence B. Lettsome International Airport Runway Extension Project, nor have we commenced negotiations with the preferred bidder," the Premier said.

Premier Smith added that, "No request has therefore been made to the FCO for permission to negotiate or do business with the Chinese Government."
